This prized collection of nearly new Porsche 911s comes with its own transport truck
Introduced in 2011, the seventh generation of Porsche’s lauded 911 sports car was known internally as the 991. Replacing the 997-generation vehicle, in the spirit of this nameplate’s rich 60-year history, the new model introduced small yet significant updates over the outgoing package aimed at steadily evolving a car many consider the best everyday performance car available.
Including the entry-level Carrera and flagship Turbo S, over the years, Porsche has introduced noteworthy track-focused GT derivatives and several special-edition commemorative 911 offerings, the former derived from this German brand’s rich history of success on race tracks worldwide.
Assembled by an owner with a particular penchant for the 991-generation Porsche 911, RM Sotheby’s is set to auction a collection of six cars, each with only delivery mileage on their respective odometers. In an interesting turn of events, the winning bidder won’t have to worry about asking five friends to help drive the cars home…
Auctioned as one lot, the six nearly new Porsche 911s will be sold already secured onto the trailer of a similarly new transporter truck.Â
While it’s difficult to know which of the cars is most valuable, at the heart of the collection is a 991.1 911 R, a limited-edition model that essentially introduced the idea of a GT3 sold without many of its track-focused regalia, including a rear wing. Finished in white with red GT stripes, the example included in this collection is no.698 or 991 cars built and has just 50 km on its clock.
A concept that would later be introduced as the GT3 with Touring Package, a second wingless GT3 included in this lot has only 20 km on the clock and has such nice-to-have options fitted as a Sport Chrono package.
The sister car to this GT3 with Touring Package, a red 991.2 GT3 finished in Indian Red features a track-focused Clubsport Package and is fitted with a six-speed manual transmission. This car has only 50 km on its odometer.
The three remaining cars parked on the back of a Rolfo Auriga trailer incrementally up the ante, with a Racing Yellow GT3 RS with Weissach Package bridging the gap between road and track. Completing the collection is a GT3 Cup car with 32 km on the clock, and a brand-new example of the halo 991.2 GT3 Cup R.
Never mind the special licence likely required to race the Cup cars featured in this single lot, the new owner’s priority looks set to be obtaining the appropriate driving permit needed (carefully) to drive the 2019 MAN TGX transporter truck home from the auction.
